Saline implants can be placed in the axilla (underarms) through an incision less than an inch long. Other incision choices for saline implants include the underwire or the areola area. Cohesive Silicone ("Gummy Bear") implants can be placed through an incision in the underwire area or around the areola.
You should be able to return to work within a few days, depending on the level of activity required for your job. You will receive instructions from Dr Del Vecchio on when to begin exercises and normal activities, which are highly recommended to adhere to. Your breasts will probably be sensitive to direct stimulation for two to three weeks and you should avoid much physical contact. After that, breast contact is fine once your breasts are no longer sore, usually three to four weeks after surgery. Your scars will be firm and pink for at least six weeks. Then they may remain the same size for several months, or even appear to widen. After several months, your scars will begin to fade, although they will never disappear completely.
VECTRA 3D Imaging System for Breast Asymmetry Services
Dr. Del Vecchio uses the latest FDA-approved Mentor saline and silicone implants. During your initial breast augmentation consultation Dr. Del Vecchio will discuss with you your expectations. You will then be imaged using the VECTRA 3D imaging system. Using this system will allow you to see how your breasts will look with different implant sizes giving you more realistic expectations about your results. It also allows you and Dr. Del Vecchio to go over the size and shape of your breasts together, after which he can recommend a customized course of treatment designed just for you.
