Breast augmentation with either silicone gel or saline implants, or through the latest technique of fat transfer augmentation, can help breasts look fuller, restore volume lost after pregnancy, weight loss or surgery and can improve symmetry resulting with beautiful, natural-looking breasts.
Since completing his training almost three decades ago, Dr. Del Vecchio has continued to refine his own skills while educating others in the field of cosmetic surgery. He is internationally recognized as a leading expert in fat transplantation to the face, breast and body. He has developed innovative techniques that have been a major contribution to the field of plastic surgery allowing the achievement of better, natural aesthetic outcomes in breast augmentation with the most reliable and consistent results.
Saline implants can be placed in the axilla (underarms) through an incision less than an inch long. Other incision choices for saline implants include the underwire or the areola area. Cohesive Silicone (“Gummy Bear”) implants can be placed through an incision in the underwire area or around the areola.
You should be able to return to work within a few days, depending on the level of activity required for your job. You will receive instructions from Dr Del Vecchio on when to begin exercises and normal activities, which are highly recommended to adhere to. Your breasts will probably be sensitive to direct stimulation for two to three weeks and you should avoid much physical contact. After that, breast contact is fine once your breasts are no longer sore, usually three to four weeks after surgery. Your scars will be firm and pink for at least six weeks. Then they may remain the same size for several months, or even appear to widen. After several months, your scars will begin to fade, although they will never disappear completely.
Breast augmentation with either silicone gel or saline implants, or through the latest technique of fat transfer augmentation, can help breasts look fuller, restore volume lost after pregnancy, weight loss or surgery and can improve symmetry resulting beautiful, natural-looking breasts.
VECTRA 3D Imaging System
Dr. Del Vecchio uses the latest FDA-approved Mentor saline and silicone implants. During your initial breast augmentation consultation Dr. Del Vecchio will discuss with you your expectations. You will then be imaged using the VECTRA 3D imaging system. Using this system will allow you to see how your breasts will look with different implant sizes giving you more realistic expectations about your results. It also allows you and Dr. Del Vecchio to go over the size and shape of your breasts together, after which he can recommend a customized course of treatment designed just for you.
Prior to your visit, you should spend some time viewing our online photo gallery to find examples of real patients results that you like. This can help give you a frame of reference for implant size and other options when it’s time for your own procedure.
About your procedure:
At the Boston Breast Center, breast augmentation is done under general anesthesia at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center. The procedure typically takes 30 minutes, allowing for shorter amount of time under anesthesia.
There are several options for the incision location used in the placement of your breast implants. The transaxillary (armpit) incision is a common choice that leaves no visible scars on the breast. The inframammary incision (underwire) is placed under the breast. Finally, the periareolar incision occurs around the areola, the pigmented skin surrounding the nipple. Regardless of the incision location, the implant is then placed under the pectoralis muscle.
